Welcome to the Junior Blades Ice Skating Club
We are a figure skating club based in Cape Town, operating every Saturday morning between 8:30 and 10:00 at the Ice Station. Our club focuses on teaching figure skating fundamentals and advancing skills through structured lessons and synchronized skating programs.
Club Operations
Junior Blades operates on Saturday mornings with the following schedule:
- Synchro Session: 07:30 - 08:30
- Regular Club Lessons: 08:30 - 10:00
- Registration Opens: 08:00
Important: All skaters must register at the Junior Blades desk inside the rink every Saturday morning before going on the ice.
Membership Requirements
To join Junior Blades, you will need:
- Completed membership application form
- Copy of parent's ID/Passport (for skaters under 18)
- Copy of skater's ID/Birth Certificate/Passport
- Payment of registration and membership fees
Communication
Junior Blades maintains a broadcast WhatsApp group to keep members informed about:
- Club announcements and updates
- Schedule changes or cancellations
- Upcoming events and competitions
- Important reminders
New members will be added to the WhatsApp group upon registration. Please ensure your contact details are current.
Cost Structure
Our fees are structured as follows:
- Rink Entry Fee: R35 per session (paid at rink cash office)
- Club Lessons: R170 per month (paid to Junior Blades)
- Synchro Session: R150 per month (paid to Junior Blades)
- Annual Membership: R130 per year
- New Member Registration: R50 (once-off)
Note: The rink entry fee must be paid at the RINK CASH OFFICE before registering with Junior Blades each Saturday.
What to Expect
During your time at Junior Blades, you can expect:

Equipment Requirements
All skaters must have:
- Figure skates (not hockey skates)
- Club uniform (turquoise JB t-shirt with black pants/skirt)
- Name badge (ordered from front desk)
- Warm clothing for practice
- Gloves (recommended for beginners)
Safety and Rules
For everyone's safety and enjoyment:
- Parents are responsible for their children's safety in and around the rink
- Skaters must wear appropriate attire and equipment
- Follow all instructions from coaches and staff
- Respect other skaters on the ice
- No food or drinks on the ice
